Grenada Carnival
Carnival in Grenada is celebrated within the first week of August. It consists of a series of parties and concerts, including Dimanche Gras, Carnival Queen Show and Soca Monarch. These competitions are conveniently located and enjoyable for everyone. The two main days of carnival begin on early Monday Morning, where people all around the island gather to celebrate Jouvert, the festival of paint. One of the best experiences of Carnival. Later that day, is the first day of pageant where masqueraders parade the street in colorful sparkling costumes. If you love photography and don’t want to join in the bands, you will love the opportunities to take gorgeous pictures in this Carnival. That night is Monday Night Mass where people gather in bands and again, parade in the streets dancing to the pulsating and infectious soca music. Even if you hadn’t planned to play in Carnival you will uncontrollably be drawn to take part. The following afternoon is the final day of pageant and last day of carnival. Music and parading is not the only part of carnival, there are plenty opportunities to fully enjoy the local art and food also. This is the time of year for most tourists to experience the true essence of the Caribbean. |
